Michelin x line energy z 315 80r22 511/8/2023 UPDATE: Looks like the turning stops are adjustable, and it should be possible to adjust to prevent this from happening in the future, removing it as a problem. But, I suppose that this is reason enough to go back to the 12R22.5 tires. At this time I only see that they've touched the dirt layer, as there is no visible damage to the rubber. Obviously on full turn the wider 315s are causing a problem. In looking at the bus more closely, I do see that at some time the edge of the tires have touched the air bags in the front. There are not nearly as many options, which is maybe why people are running the 315s instead. Oh, and they turn 490 revs/mile, which is pretty darned close to the GM spec'd 495 on your coach.įollowing some of the suggestions, I've been looking to see what tires are available in the 12R22.5 size. I've only got about 100 miles on the Toyos at this point, but I'm very happy with the ride, plus they're very quiet on the different freeway surfaces in my area. This would work out to about $3975 for your 4108, if you went for the same tire. was $5300 out the door, which was $940 less than Michelins on the FMCA program. Thus, after three days of pouring over website after website and review after review, I ended up with eight 12R22.5 LR H Toyo (Japanese) M170s from our local Les Schwab store (a company that has over 400 stores on the West Coast.) Mounted, balanced, new stems, taxes, etc. Continental also didn't have a dealer nearby, so they were scratched. Another busnut suggested I consider Sailun tires (which I'd never heard of, found out they're a Chinese product), but they don't have a dealer w/in 250 miles of me, so they were out. I looked into the FMCA's Michelin program, looking at both the Michelins and the Continentals. This tire will fit on an 8.25" rim, per the T&RA specs. The stock OEM tire on your 4108, as with our XL, is a 12R22.5, Load Range H. All eight of the Alcoas on the Prevost were 8.25", so the 315s were out. The Tire and Rim Association does not recommend installing 315/80R22.5s on rims that are less than 9" wide. Turned out the front two and the four drive tires were all 12 years old, and the tags (Firestones, very, very badly cracked) were 16 years old! Scary.Īnyway, after much research, discovered several things: We lost a tire on our "new to us" Prevost about three weeks ago, inside dual. Not sure how that will affect performance, and since I'm already feeling that the bus is short on low-end power I don't want to do anything to make it worse. The other tire I'm considering is a Conti Coach HA3, but it spins at only 488 rpm. !/info/x-line-energy-z-coachĪnyone have any experience with this tire? One tire I'm looking at is the Michelin X Line Energy Z. Not sure if they are better, about the same, or a step down. So, I looked at the Michelin tires available, and with the FMCA discount they would end up costing about the same as the Firestones. The tire dealer I'm hoping to work with is recommending Michelin, mainly I think because that is their main line and the Firestones will need to be ordered in. My initial thought was to replace them with a new set of the same. We've been happy with them, and other than the tires being seven years old there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. Right now we're running Firestone FS 400 in 315/80R22.5 size. Margaritaville margarita maker reviews11/8/2023 This will shave the ice for your cold drinks while the compartment underneath blends the rest of the mixture. The quality of the Bartesian’s drinks is up to you, and pretty much depends on whatever liquor you decide to load it up with. Whenever you’re using this machine, you’re always going to be filling the ice reservoir first. You’ll notice that these recipes don’t take long, and that’s thanks to the machine’s automatic nature. The first recipes to go through are drink recipes, which is the Margaritaville’s stronger forte. Read More: How to make crushed ice Margaritaville Recipe Favorites A dry or damp cloth over the whole unit and in the nooks and corners should be more than enough. You don’t want gunk developing inside of your blender but you don’t want to disassemble and reassemble the machine every time you clean it. Wipe down the machine after every use. Try to choose recipes that add up to 12 ounces, and if you can’t find any, then manipulate the ingredient distribution so it does. 11 ounces is going to produce a thicker concoction, while 13 ounces will produce a thin, slippery drink. No matter the recipe, no matter the ingredients, if you have 12 ounces worth of liquid in your mixture, the Margaritaville blender is going to whip out the perfect tasting and textured cold drink.

Independently in 1984, Michael Berry at Warwick University, Coventry, UK, showed that quantum systems could acquire what is known as a geometric phase under certain conditions. Tonomura received numerous prizes for this work.įigure 1. In other words, electrons passing through regions free of any electromagnetic field, nevertheless interacted with the vector potentials in the regions. 1(a), interference fringes are displaced with just half-fringe spacing inside and outside of the doughnut, proving the existence of the AB effect. With the magnet maintained at a temperature of 5 K, they measured the phase difference from the interference fringes between one electron beam passing though the hole in the doughnut and the other passing on the outside of the doughnut. 1(a) and (b)), and covered it with a niobium superconductor to completely confine the magnetic field within the doughnut. To settle this dispute, Tonomura and his colleagues made a doughnut-shaped ferromagnet six micrometers in diameter (Fig. If so, the experiment did not prove the existence of the AB effect. there were leakage magnetic fields in space, that could have created the phase differential. As the electron beams contacted the magnet, i.e. Soon after publishing the results, an objection was raised to this experiment. They clearly showed that there is a phase difference between the two electrons beams passing through regions of space that have no magnetic field, and that the extent of the phase difference precisely matches the predicted value. In 1982, using a holography electron microscope Tonomura and his colleagues measured the phase difference in the form of interference fringes produced by two beams of electrons, one passing through the inside and the other passing through the outside of a doughnut-shaped magnet. This enabled him to pick out perfect magnets that do not leak magnetic fields to the outside. This was the basis of a technique known as electron holography, an interference electron microscopy that could be used to show up the contour map of the electron phase. In the 1970s, Tonomura succeeded in making a highly coherent electron microscope - with coherence more than two orders of magnitude higher than that of a conventional electron microscope. So, electron beams split into components that pass through the middle and the outside would be expected to have a different phase. In such a magnet, the magnetic field is trapped inside, and no magnetic field exists either in the hole in through the middle or in the space outside the torus. One of the more remarkable experiments to demonstrate the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect was carried out by Akira Tonomura of Hitachi Laboratory in Japan, using microscopic toroidal (doughnut shaped) magnets. The effect was soon observed in experiments. Aharonov and Bohm predicted that, according to quantum theory - described by Schrödinger's wave function - the two beams, being wave-like, would acquire different phases due to their interaction with the vector potential, even though the field itself was zero, and that the difference between these phases could be detected via interference. Although the magnetic field is zero outside the solenoid, the vector potential associated with the field is not zero. The beam is split into two so that one passes to the left and the other to the right of the solenoid. In 1959, quantum physicists Yakir Aharonov and the late David Bohm at Birbeck College, London University, proposed a thought-experiment in which an electron beam is directed towards a long thin magnetic field trapped inside a tightly-wound coil of electric wire, a solenoid. In classical electromagnetic theory, the vector and scalar potentials in Maxwell's equations of the electromagnetic field are purely mathematical entities without physical significance, but not so in quantum mechanics. Mae-Wan Ho investigates the link between quantum phases and quantum coherence, and comes up with the surprising implication that the universe itself may be quantum coherent Quantum phases

Most recent volcano eruption 201811/7/2023 She measures the concentrations of trace elements to determine whether a lava sample is fresh or evolved-and if it is evolved, just how evolved it might be. Gansecki works mostly as a laboratory researcher analyzing samples, including many of those captured from Kīlauea’s outpourings. Volcanologists call this aged magma “differentiated” or “evolved.” As it cools, certain minerals precipitate out as crystals, leaving behind a liquid that is richer in the remaining elements and depleted of the elements in the crystallized minerals. A Surprising SampleĪs a batch of magma sits in the ground under a volcano, it begins to cool. They raced against time to capture samples of new lava before yet another variety of lava came along and obliterated all traces of what had surfaced not long before. In the heat of what many are calling a once-in-a-lifetime event, scientists were driven to build a collection of lava samples whose chemistry could help tell the story of the volcano’s historic transformation. Over the late spring and summer, HVO teams amassed bag after bag of volcanic rubble, some of it drawn hot from fresh flows, some scoured from tree branches spat upon by the eruption, more just picked up from the ground after it had rained down, and some chipped from solidified flows. Now that Kīlauea has settled down, a history of what transpired remains, written in stone. Sitting in the lab is USGS HVO geologist Lopaka Lee. Volcanologists collected the samples from the lower East Rift Zone, where many fissures opened unexpectedly in the spring and summer. Such a change requires emergency crews to deploy more quickly and widely and possibly to carry out additional evacuations.īags of Kīlauea lava samples await analysis on a lab bench at HVO this past June. Such markers mean the eruption is about to become much faster and more voluminous. Most critically for public safety, from the time the volcano abruptly changed on 3 May, volcanologists watched for chemical clues that younger, hotter lava was arriving on the scene. For one, lab studies of the traits of the fresh, glassy volcanic rock can give clues to what’s coming next in an eruption. Building a Rock RecordĪs dangerous as lava samples are to retrieve, they provide valuable rewards. In the 46-second video below, a Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) geologist scoops up and quenches a bucket’s worth of lava last year from that Pu‘u O‘o vent. Grabbing fresh lava was one of the first things that volcano scientists did when fissures in Leilani Estates, an area on Kīlauea’s eastern flank that is historically less volcanically active than other areas, suddenly and dramatically began spewing lava in what became a long-unseen type of eruption on 3 May.įor the previous 35 years, the volcano had been reliably releasing lava from a vent called Pu‘u O‘o that lies 21 kilometers (13 miles) from those newly opened fissures. The plunge froze it into glass, preventing the chemical alterations and crystallization that would occur if the lava cooled slowly. “You’re watching for to fall kind of close to you, then running in and grabbing it and running out again.” To lock the sample into the chemical state it was in when it was collected, geologists would cool the searing blob of molten rock quickly by “quenching” it in a bucket of water. When explosive blasts and spattering lava made it too dangerous to approach the flow, scientists got as close as they could and then waited, added Gansecki, a volcanologist at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. It just felt like everything was going to catch on fire.”įor the previous 35 years, the volcano had been reliably releasing lava from a vent called Pu‘u O‘o that lies 21 kilometers (13 miles) from the newly opened fissures. “I’ve had a couple of times when I’ve tried to sample from a flow and just couldn’t. “Imagine the hottest oven you can, sticking your head in-and it’s hotter than that,” volcanologist Cheryl Gansecki said, recounting what it felt like to approach active lava flows at Hawaii’s Kīlauea volcano, where the sheer volume of lava made the radiant heat extremely intense.
